AUROBINDO Q2 REVENUE IMPROVES TO RS.3271 MILLION.
- GROWTH OF OVER 20%

 

Hyderabad, India_October 31, 2005: Aurobindo Pharma Limited has registered a total income of Rs.3271 Million (Rs.2719 million) for the quarter ended September 30, 2005.
The EBIDTA stands at Rs.290.9 million (Rs. 273.5 million) showing a growth of 6.4% for the quarter.
After absorbing higher depreciation and interest amounting to Rs.265.8 million, (Rs.224.2 million), the Company has achieved Profit after Tax of Rs.36.4 million (Rs.25.6 million) for the quarter.
The export sales during the quarter have increased from Rs.1250.4 million to Rs.1506.2 million.
The formulation sales has increased by 120% to Rs.367.9 million (Rs.166.9 million). Going forward, the formulation sales is expected to contribute higher for the growth of the Company in view of the regulatory approvals.

It may be noted that, during the quarter, Zidovudine oral solution 50 mg/5 ml and Zidovudine tablets 300 mg had been given final approval by US FDA thus taking total approvals to 5 in US market. Further, Aurobindo also received tentative approval for Sertraline Hydrochloride tablets 25 mg (base), 50 mg (base) and 100 mg (base) for US market.
Aurobindo has filed additional 13 patents during the quarter and the cumulative filings stand at 152 as of September 2005.
During the quarter Aurobindo won “The best bulk drug company award” for the 3rd time given away by Express Pharma Pulse, a leading Pharma publication.
Aurobindo has really geared up in the ARV segment by clinching more approvals under the PEPFAR program. As of date, the company has received 7 approvals for the purpose of PEPFAR program. The products approved under PEPFAR program are Zidovudine tablets 300 mg, Lamivudine tablets 150 mg & 300 mg, Nevirapine tablets 200 mg, Lamivudine & Zidovudine combination tablets 150 mg/300 mg, Zidovudine oral solution 50 mg/5 ml, Efavirenz tablets 600 mg and Stavudine capsules 30 mg & 40 mg. The World Health Organization (WHO), Geneva, has also included Aurobindo’s products in its pre-qualification list. The Company has made a small beginning under PEPFAR program and it hopes to bag good orders under the program.
