AUROBINDO PHARMA LAUNCHES TWO MORE ANTIRETROVIRAL PRODUCTS FOR HIV TREATMENT

Imunus Aurobindo, a division of Aurobindo Pharma, continues its pioneering role with new formulations for the treatment of AIDS.

Imunus Aurobindo has now launched two-fixed dose combinations, STAVEX-LN and STAVEX-L. STAVEX-LN is a combination of Stavudine 30mg, Lamivudine 150mg and Nevirapine 200mg. STAVEX-L is a combination of Stavudine 30mg and Lamivudine 150mg.

Both these combinations are very widely used in HIV treatment. These combinations reduce the number of pill consumption by patients and improve easier adherence to treatment.

According to Mr. Hariharan, Vice-President, Imunus Aurobindo "Strict adherence is an important factor in the treatment of AIDS. Patients usually forget to consume pills due to complex dosing of antiretrovirals. This introduction of fixed dose combinations will definitely simplify the pill burden for AIDS patients".

The fixed dose combinations bring down the monthly cost of treatment significantly by around 20%, making the treatment affordable to many more patients.

Backed by the Rs.75 crore R&D investment of Aurobindo Pharma Limited, Imunus is planning to launch several more fixed dose combinations in future.
