AUROBINDO RECEIVES APPROVAL FOR AMOXICILLIN TABLETS & CAPSULES

Aurobindo pharma receives its first product approval from Unit XII for Amoxicillin

Aurobindo Pharma Limited is pleased to announce that U.S. Food Drug Administration (US FDA) has approved its Amoxicillin Tablets USP 500 mg & 875 mg and Amoxicillin Capsules USP 250 mg & 500 mg.

An important milestone is being achieved with this first product approval received from our dedicated formulation unit XII, manufacturing Betalactam formulations which is situated in Bachupally, Andhrapradesh, India.

Until now, only product approvals from unit III were contributing to the US formulations business. Aurobindo will be able to market this product with immediate effect. The market opportunity for the current approval is around USD 100 million. Aurobindo is one amongst the global leaders in this product range and is looking forward to entering regulated markets such as USA.

Aurobindo is already selling Four formulations in the US market and the objective is to market a product portfolio that encompasses both intellectual property based immediate release/controlled generics as well as products with India advantage. Unit III, Unit VI and Unit XII are the formulation units targeted for the US Market. The approval from Unit XII is an important milestone for Aurobindo. Unit VI is already inspected, and the company is awaiting product approvals.
